Sepultura - Roots - 1996

Roots

The style on this first piece of Sepultura is totally different from "Roots". They started as a full-on death metal band, finding their roots on "Beneath The Remains' (1989) and re-discovered 'em in 1991, with the release of "Arise". And then, five years later, one of the finest works of the 90's is released.

Sepultura - Chaos A.D. - 1993

Chaos A.D.

It was good old times, when Max Cavalera was still brutally screaming in Sepultura, and the Brazilian band strongly came on the international scene. The four men from Belo Horizonte could foresee a glorious future after Beneath the Remains and the huge Arise in 1990. It was the time when Sepultura was used to scream its rage against the Brazilian society that was oppressing the most penniless.

Track Listing
01. Refuse/Resist
02. Territory
03. Slave New World
04. Amen
05. Kaiowas
06. Propaganda
07. Biotech Is Godzilla
08. Nomad

Sepultura - Arise - 1991

Arise

Sepultura has always had an incredibly straightforward approach to writing music. This is not to say that their music lacks complexities, in fact quite the opposite, but it does mean that their songs are structured in a very accessible manner. This album is no exception as it contains every element you could want from a Thrash Metal album and yet doesn't sound clichéd for a moment. The Death Metal leanings of their previous three full length efforts are far less obvious and on this album they hit the mark perfectly between their earlier style and the tribal feel which would emerge later on in their career.

Track Listing

01. Arise
02. Dead Embryonic Cells
03. Desperate Cry
04. Murder
05. Subtraction
06. Altered State
07. Under Siege (Regnum Irae)
08. Meaningless Movements
09. Infected Voice

Sepultura - Beneath The Remains - 1989

Beneath the Remains

"Beneath The Remains" belongs besides "Arise" to the best SEPULTURA records ever. Later, the group was never such fast, mangily and easygoing like on this record. No tribal sounds, no Hardcore approach, just straight forward. Fans of the Old School know what I mean. One of the ten best Thrash records ever. It belongs to every collection.

Track Listing

01. Beneath The Remains
02. Inner Self
03. Stronger Than Hate
04. Mass Hypnosis
05. Sarcastic Existence
06. Slaves Of Pain
07. Lobotomy
08. Hungry
09. Primitive Future

Sepultura - Schizophrenia - 1987

Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia - a serious mental illness in which someone's thoughts and feelings are not based on what is really happening around them - a really nasty one but Sepultura's album is even nastier! It's easy to figure out why this album is called like this - it's just sickly fast and brutal! While recording this album Sepultura wasn't really known outside of Brazil - they weren't even known inside their own country - but this album made them famous all over Brazil, though it wasn't originally released outside of the beautiful country where dancing and having fun never ends. This album was an great impact - real Sepultura's career has begun with it.

Track listing
01. Intro
02. From The Past Comes The Storms
03. To The Wall
04. Escape To The Void
05. Inquisition Symphony
06. Screams Behind The Shadows
07. Septic Schizo
08. The Abyss
09. R.I.P. (Rest In Pain)

Sepultura - Morbid Visions - 1986

Morbid Visions

This is the Brazilian metal band's second album that they released. The music is great. It's like a combination of death and thrash metal but mostly thrash metal. The introduction riff for the song War is awesome. I also am a big fan of the drums in the song Troops Of Doom.
